Let's cheer for Taiwan's beasball team!

Hi all,

Reading the article Olympic Countdown reminded me of the final Olympic qualifying baseball tournament held soon in Taiwan from March 7 to 14. That this tournament got my attention is, of course, because our national baseball team is one of the eight teams in it and is expected to have lots of tough challenges after the battle of baseball is launched. Only three of eight teams are able to get the ticket to fly to Beijing this summer. This is a tough competition, isn't it? Let's cheer for our national teams that are on the way to Beijing. Let's wait and see how they will earn respect from people around the world for our country. Go go, Taiwan teams!

Do the methodology and logic that you have been trained with in school really do something helpfun on your work?

Hi all,

After reading the Q&A article derived from the interview with Rowan Atkinson, the actor famous for his character Mr. Bean, I was a little surprised at the change that he became an actor from a student in EE field. He more or less agreed that methodical and detail-oriented kind of thinking taught him conversely to approach humor with a disciplined and logical methodolgy. So, I introspected and asked myself: Do the methodology and logic that I have been trained with in school really do something helpfun on my work? Given that an actor can think and act in a methodical and logical manner, it would be a shame if I couldn't do my job in this way. I am an engineer after all.

I guess my answer is Yes, although I'm sure there are still lots of details on my working processes can be improved. How about you?

Doing exercise is a good way to prevent burnout.

There are lots of ways to prevent burnout, and doing exercise or reading novels is what I do to prevent burnout. Maybe you don't think I would burn out because I work in CHT, but recently I'm looking forward to the weekend on Monday. Ha~Ha~

As long as the weather is not raining, I would play tennis off duty and I found that it does benefit to my mood. Reading novels could make me change my attention to the story, not always thinking or worrying about the work.

Maybe someone would say "I have no leisure for doing exercise or reading novels ", I don't know how to respond this..haha~

Some thought on the article "Russia's Bid for Arctic Energy"

Russia and many countries want to prove sovereignty on North Pole because there are very rich natural resources including oil , natural gas and gold. In the world, who can own more natural resource mean who has more power. It would be more clear especially at this time that the price of oil is very high. At the same time, many alternative energies are developed in order to reduce the usage of oil.

A stupid thing happened to me today.

Hi all,

I wanna share one thing stupid I made today with you. That is, in great delight I took the new Advanced magazine I bought in KingStone book store to home, and was ready to read it immediately. But, to my surprise, I noticed that the month flag in this magaznie is marked as DECEMBER 2007!

The bad news is, I still don't have a magazine of Jan.

The good news is, I do have a magazine of Dec. 2007 eventually even though I couldn't find a one in the nearest book store around my house just one month ago.

A reading report supposed to be posted two weeks ago

Hi all,

Please forgive me being a such lazy boy. This article is supposed to be posted two weeks ago. Actually I did write half my report at that time, but I forgot to save it before a rebooting of my notebook. So.. now I'm trying to rewrite it from my recall memory.

The topic I chose that week is the news discussing Corcs shoes. After reading this article, I really have a good impression on Corcs shoes' comfort. As I told you, I am willing to do anything possible to build up a comfortable working enviornment. So, a pair of Corcs shoes has been marked as a must-by item in my buy list. I will definitely buy a new pair in the next time I happen to walk around a Corcs store, and then wear them in my office. I intend to use Corcs shoes to replace my casual slippers. After all, slippers are not decent at all in working place. I think it might be more unnoticable whiling I'm fooling around my office with Crocs shoes.

BTW, if you have any tips that can make you work more comfortably or refresh your mind while you're tired of your task at hand. Please share them to me. That would be much obliged.

Thanks
Hugh

One sentence I noticed from "How to save Time"

It seems that the article "How to save Time" is nothing special, because everyone knows that saving one's time is important. But one sentence in this article makes me impressive, and the sentence is "In order to delegate, you must come to terms with the fact that the task will not be done exactly how you would have done it."

My boss often tells me that I'm the project manager of the project which I responsible for, and I think this also means I have to responsible for the success or fail of the project. But my boss often intervene too much, and at the end, it seems that this project becomes the idea of my boss, but I still have to responsible for the success or fail.

In the darkness side, the behavior of my boss is "To say is one thing, To do is another thing", she says that she wants to delegate, but what she did is being afraid that the outcome of the project will not as she originally think, so she intervened. In the brightness side, my boss just wants everything is perfectly done.

There are three members in our team, and our more powerful bosses said that our team did not attain the performance of three people. Maybe one of the reasons is that my boss spends too much time on telling us how to doing our work, so my boss said that in the new year, she had to delegate more power to us to get our work done. I think it's a good thing, and I hope the work performance of our team in the new year will be better than the previous year.
