Our conclusion about this study group
This Sunday, we discussed about the way this study group would go, and made the conclusion as following. First, we read Advanced magazine together and share what we learned about these articles by Skype every Wednesday or weekend (?). Second, We also pick up an interesting article by ourselves to share with everyone in the gathering irregularly. Is there any comment about these results?

OWASP Top Ten Project
Hi guys
this is my topic on sunday. enjoy it !!
The OWASP Top Ten provides a powerful awareness document for web application security.
The OWASP Top Ten represents a broad consensus about what the most critical web application security flaws are. Project members include a variety of security experts from around the world who have shared their expertise to produce this list.
Adopting the OWASP Top Ten is perhaps the most effective first step towards changing the software development culture within your organization into one that produces secure code.

article selected by monster--Leader of the Nations
This article is selected from the Advanced magazine,July 2007, and the abstract is as following:
LEADER OF THE NATIONS
The U.N.'s new secretary-general hopes to usher in a new era
South Korean former Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon found out how hard his new job was going to be as soon as he officially assumed the position of the United Nations (U.N.) secretary-general in early January. He had to deal with the crisis in Somalia, where several countries were making a poorly orchestrated attempt to eliminate the African counterpart of the Afghan Taliban, and he had to help a legal government assert its power.
But when EU Foreign Minister Xavier Solana suggested sending U.N. peacekeepers to Somalia, it transpired that the U.N. nominally controls up to 100,000 peacekeeping troops in 19 hotspots. There is no end to those who would like to invite the blue helmets to their own lands.
In his first days in office, Ban Ki-moon realized that the main result of his predecessor Kofi Annan's 10-year rule was a sharp increase in the demand for the U.N. This is good news. The bad news is that the U.N. is too weak to parry this challenge...

"Then There Was One: China"
This article is selected from the PC Magazine, Vol. 26, No. 20.
Please read the following preface for a brief idea:
"Can you imagine an auto industry where all the cars come from a single nation? Just imagine all the Fords, Chryslers, Toyotas, and Mercedeses coming from a factory in China. That is essentially what has happened to the computer business."
Thanks,
Hugh

Agenda for this week. (10/21)
Hi all,
As you have known already, we are going to have our 1st study gathering this Sunday. Based on our agreement, the gathering will take place on this Sunday morning (10/21) at 8AM, in somewhere around Zhongshan Junior High School station. We will meet up in front of the exit of MRT station at 9:30AM and pick a proper place. I hope all you are looking forward to this gathering as I am.
Before this gathering, there is one thing we have to finish by this Friday, namely, to choose your target article you would like to share/discuss with the team. You can choose any topic/field of your interest as long as you think it is worth reading. Of course, it MUST be an English article. After choosing the article to be shared, please post the title on this blog for the team to keep it mind in advance. It would be appreciated if you could upload a digital copy as well. In that case, we can preview the article and maybe do some research by ourselves. The last reminder, please copy papers of your article and bring each team member a paper copy in the gathering.
OK, that's all. Please feel free to raise any issue if you have any concern or question regarding our gathering.
See you on Sunday.
Thanks,
Hugh
